Meet the Austin Team Behind Ashby Chimney Austin

Chimney work is house work. It means carrying drop cloths up stairs, setting up ladders on sloped yards in Travis Heights, and kneeling in front of fireplaces in homes built anywhere from 1920 to last year. The people we send to your door are the whole company. These are the faces of Ashby Chimney Austin, and they’re the ones who stand behind the written price, the written guarantee, and the promise to make it right.

Our People

Marcus T. – Lead Technician

Marcus has been sweeping chimneys in Austin for over 14 years, the last six with our crew. He’s CSIA-certified and has inspected more flue liners in Hyde Park and Rosedale than he can count. Marcus is the one who trained most of the rest of us on reading creosote levels and spotting cracked tile liners before they become a house fire problem. Off the clock, he rebuilds old motorcycles and claims the grease keeps his sweep hands honest. We don’t argue with him.

Luis R. – Senior Installer

Luis handles the heavy repair work: stainless steel flue liners, firebox rebuilds, and dampers that haven’t opened since the Bush administration. He’s been with Ashby Chimney Austin since 2011 and favors DuraFlex and HeatShield systems because he knows exactly how they behave when the heat hits them. Luis grew up in Del Valle and knows the soil shifts out here, which matters when you’re sealing crown cracks that open up every August. He brings tamales from his aunt’s kitchen every December and the crew has never once complained.

Dana W. – Service Coordinator

Dana is the person most Austin customers hear first. She answers the phone, books the visit, and writes the estimate before anyone steps foot in your living room. She’s been with us since 2018 and came from a plumbing dispatch office, so she knows how to ask the questions that prevent surprise charges. If Dana tells you the technician will arrive between 8 and 10, that’s when the truck pulls up. She also keeps a photo log of every job so we can show you exactly what we saw, which is the whole point of the Kingswell Way.

Jared P. – Apprentice

Jared is our newest crew member and the one who gets sent onto the roof first, mostly because he’s 25 and fearless but also because he asked to learn roofline work the proper way. He’s studying for his CSIA certification and spends his days shadowing Marcus and Luis, filling the van, hauling equipment, and learning what a healthy flue liner looks like versus one that needs a camera inspection. Jared lives in Pflugerville with a dog that barks at every fire truck on Wells Branch Parkway. That’s not relevant to your chimney, but he’ll probably mention it if you ask.
